Magnetic poetry

The past few days have been amazing, exhilarating, horrifying and peaceful all at the same time.

Forgetting all the details, I'm just glad that Dad is now pretty much stabilized and everything has calmed down more or less. Thank you everyone for the support and prayers, it was very much needed. Yesterday would have been terrifying if not for you guys.

I kinda promised God that if Dad was alright, I would do missionary work somewhere after A-levels for a few months, so I guess now would be an apt time to plan WHERE. Haha.

Rockafella on Friday was pretty awesome. So many terrible things were happening before it started, incredibly slow set-up team, cranky sound system and almost zilch sound-check and rehearsal time.

Worst of all, by a cruel twist of fate (melodrama! melodrama!) Azriel managed to accidently snap my E-string whilst sliding all over the audi-ex floor and doing guitar antics. So that resulted in a good hour of panic, with Jared, who pretty much became Ssssshh!'s right-hand man (with the cymbal-playing, advice-dude etc etc) preparing to run off to penin to get strings while we did our soundcheck. But Amos finally came through with his spare strings and everything was alright :D

All the rehearsals finally paid off cause WE WON! epic stuff. Made tons of new friends (love Rocket Swan, they are such funky people) and it was just a great experience.

Of course, now that that's over, there's nothing much to separate us from common tests. 'Cept wait, CJ's annual cross country run. Fantastic.

Oh, but wait. I heard May and Sylvia are dressing up as Napolean and Napolean's horse as our class mascot (according to the ridiculous PE department's theme of 'CJC GOES FRENCH'). That ought to spice things up a little bit :D

Beautiful Mess

Just when I was about to figure life out,
He came to poison my dreams,
The stranger clad in romance.
Now I'm stuck.

I'm slipping between the cracks here,
tangled up in lines.

Well to tell the truth.
Till you came along,
I had a perfectly ordinary life.

There are no words to describe how much I abhor my absolutely crap-CCA and its moronic leaders. No wait, there are.

Hello, is it your fault that your vice-head/wife Clara, only told me I had to write the article on Saturday? I think it's pretty darn swell enough that I managed to scrape together a half-page (small-font, mind you) of decently-written work yesterday night after I came home from Rockefella practise at nine o' clock. The email, dripping with wannabe-sarcasm was totally uncalled for.

Next time please forward your article to Eeban instead of me.

I have done it for you this time, but don't do it again.

Oh yar, it would be nice to have the article in on Sunday if you told me it would be in on Sunday'

Apparently, some people find it hard to differentiate the phrases 'I'll try to get it done over the weekend' from 'I'll get it done by Sunday'.

Not to say, it was unnecessary to yell at Clare. The only dudes that yell at girls when it's not their fault are douche bags who feel that they need to exercise the male ego/chauvinist-pig complex to exude manliness.

Well, not working, Ian.

Apologies for that rant, but Clare a.k.a fellow editorial-hater, doesn't have her phone and is thus not replying my texts. Sigh.

On a lighter note, here's some shots from Lit Night. Which we totally owned, btw.

aWe won for costumes and second for exhibition! Wicked stuff. Not bad for two days work, I reckon :)

Next up, Rockefella. Yesterday's rehearsal was beyond bad, let's hope tomorrow's one works out.

As for common tests, I believe the right word here is 'screwed'. Doomed. Shish Kebab.

Oh.

YES, I've heard of Florence + The Machine.

Love everything about this. The checkered mini dress (?), ribbed-sleeve leather jacket and her hair. Pity we lack the joy of the four seasons.

The most hectic part of the festive season is over and I'm not quite in the mood for school. Today I went for one pathetic math lecture (which as per usual, had zilch idea what was going on) and a rubbish GP tutorial. And had to stay back for my oh-so-fantastic CCA until 3:30pm, wherein the wonderful leaders made our poor juniors play hangman. Walked around school with Jac and Rach and by the time we came back it was time to go.

So much for being 'The Press'. Clearly, our name is the only aurally-pleasing part of the whole shebang.

Pictures from our class BBQ last friday! All in all, a veritable feast (wherein George ate a fire-starter, I kid you not) and way too much gossip.

Why are we so spastic.

Realised today that common test is sometime in two weeks. And there's still Rockefella to deal with and the Paramore concert. Fantastic! Now I won't have time to sleep.

Speaking of sleeping. Goodnight everyone :)

A picture conversation for your mind

Music, love, books and quiet benches.

Well I suppose that Valentine's day Single Awareness Day clashes with CNY completely ruins each other out. The air is now buzzing with CNY excitement! NON.

Yesterday's reunion dinner consisted of no steamboat, but mediocre and overly-priced restaurant fare. Rather disappointing! Still, there was watching Glee and other awesome flicks on starmovies, with champagne&strawberries at Ah Yi's mansion after.

Well, here's to another long day of visiting! I'll be sure to take pictures with my new kodak vintage :))))

If this little light of mine, combined with yours today

Snip around the dusty edges,
do you remember what it's like,
to dance on cliffs?
The fire was burning bright
in our hearts.

I dare say
we left too soon.
Now no one will ever know
that it was we
who first had light in our hearts.

Chinese New Year is drawing near and I haven't bought a single piece for the occasion. Just marvy! How I detest the sixteen-hour school days.

Spending the week counting down to the weekends, every hour counting down to the end of the day, and watching the minutes flit by. Singapore's education system is screwed. Anymore of this tosh-studying will make me go into a nervy-spaz!

What I would like, by the end of this week.

1. A hella-lot of instanx mini packs so that the Polaroid Project can continue! I miss lugging that over-sized camera around.
2. To look good in candy-coloured stockings (reference to Emily Fitch of Skins S4E2)
3. Get my manhattan portage bag, new flats, and some decent clothes for New Years.
4. Finish up all the backlog of homework D:
5. STUDY SOMETHING. anything
6. Eat mango shaved-ice from FEP again. Holy canoli, we're addicted
7. Not skive off school. Here's to a (near) perfect attendance for 2010!
8. Wear my retainers every night so I will have pretty-straight teeth by CNY
9. Do not think about episode three of Skins every waking minute
10. Get through it all!

Jamming with Sssssh! today! Exhausted, as per usual. So much to do, and so little time.

Hello, its been a while

Wow, these thoughts in my mind are just bouncing all over the place.

Is this listlessness? Sometimes I wonder.

Crossing the Rubicon

I think,
sometimes we think too much,
think too much of ourselves.

Well it's time to get over yourself dear,
these songs aren't written for you,
Your mind's on overdrive
and it's bringing everybody down.

You have no idea how much I've missed Skins. Don't you wish fabulous drama series could go on forever?

Well at least for ten glorious weeks, I've got something to look forward to every week.

Didn't go to school today, caught an unfortunate bout of, well... nevermind.

All you need to know is that the whole day was spent watching the Grammys (So-so. Dave Matthews Band was awesome. And honestly, there is nothing Lady Gaga can do now to shock the world. Although a piano with severed limbs sticking out of it comes pretty close), trying desperately to catch up with late CSE readings, and listening to Orianthi's newest album. To say the least, I am inspired!

CSE test tomorrow. Mein gott! Buckle up, its going to be one long week.

but then I just smile

How do we name the days?
What people do with the minutes,
I do with memories.

Train station in the early evening,
we are drowning in sweet nostalgia here, honey,
Frankly,
I'm getting tired of living
in yesterday.

So I hit the ground now,
I've been living up there for too long
and the night's getting gray.

I'm sorry for not updating this space more than I should. Suat told me I should be more like Kai, who painstakingly finds something to blog-worthy everyday. Me, I forget things as soon as they come along.

Live in the moment, I always say.

So, photos. (in chronological order!)

spot the boo-boo D:
Some band pictures!

three cheers for being absolutely spontaneous.

Who said a band with three guitarists can't rock out?

awww kieran. We will miss him when he goes for rehabilitation the operation

overexposed shot: originally supposed to be some roadside ice-cream shop. It was actually super frustrating/worrying that the film didn't come out the first time I took it, but I guess it turned out for the best.
shaved ice selling like hotcakes. Oh, the irony.

one of the best bands. ever.
late-night tea times.

Another highlight of the week was creating the most legendary group to ever enter facebook. This occurred somehow when we were talking about skins season 4 (PHOTO POST SOON) and it evolved into this>

116 members and counting. Watch out for us.

And stop using our page to advertise your lame fish group, alex(is)!

Yesterday went out for a number of music practices and a rather unexpected picnic. No comment. 'Cept, Leon's 'suspenders and AH-HEM' joke is probably etched into my memory forever! Hilarious stuff.

Midnight. Urgh, so not looking forward to school tomorrow for a variety of reasons. Unfinished homework and unfinished business. Wow this is annoying.

So goodnight guys, and here's to the next beckoning weekend!
