Are we human or are we dancers?

Dance dance,
you tell me this time it won't be the same
dance dance,
Behind the doors of my heart

Dance dance,
We glide past handprints on walls
and ghosts in mirrors,
Dance dance,
You hold me but yet you are so far,
speak up so i can wake up from this nightmare
and dance,
Dance.

Another week has come and gone. Strange how holidays always pass waaay to fast. It seems that the term 'O-levels' has become such a faraway thing, an almost unrecognisable term. Or is it just me? Because I almost forget what studying my butt off felt like. :)

I can't really remember what happened this whole week, its all pretty much a blur. So here are the highlights, in no particular order at all. (excluding pictures because these days i lack inspiration/am too lazy to whip out my camera or the battery is perpetually dead.)

1) Xiao Qi's halloween dress up party/her sweet 16th. Which i have to say, nearly no one dressed up for. So much for the epic plans of elaborate dress ups. Frankly speaking, im sick to death of fancy dress parties, so it was fun to just chill out on the patio and eat all the chicken kebabs till everyone yelled at me. Highlight was probably when we went upstairs and took snazzy pictures with Xiao Qi's uber expensive dresses. OR when dearest janna arrived as Troy Bolton (wildcats jersey and cheap basketball and all)

2) Hanging out with the usual bums at that place in pasir ris with a giant cadbury wheel. It sounds totally lame, but it is somewhere nice to crash after you've been to town one too many times. Bowled for a while and ate at some flashy japanese restaurants, watch WILDCHILD. Alex Pettyfer a.k.a Alex Rider in stormbreaker FTW! Who does not love hot dudes with hot british accents in authentic british boarding houses! It is a flashback to Enid Blyton days, Naughtiest Girl, St Clares, malory towers etc etc.

3) Getting the Killers CD from a Secret Admirer haha just kidding. Thank you Will B. for the very early birthday present! have a brilliant time in Sweden, don't forget to right a postcard! Don't you just love finding a package in the mail specially for you?

4) Church Drama Rehearsals. hard to believe the skit preparation started of in about July...? I for one, think its absolutely brilliant. Mela(hor)nie is really an aussome actress/dancer with a chicken leg and the asian Jesus a.k.a Luki is good too. Although the rehearsals are pretty tiring with LOADS of physical activity, its been pretty much fun um acting as a drunk girl.

5) Climbing of Mount KK in Malaysia next year and its endless preparations the buzz in church nowadays are pretty much about church camp and the mountain climb for the 'fitter' people after the entire camp is over. It all sounded pretty fun, and with the pretty scenic pictures on the powerpoint slides and the reassurance of the entire youth team going, i signed up. All seemed well till i opened my email this morning. The following is an forwarded email from Pastor William. I kid you not.

Dear KK climbers, pls note that:
  1. the housing on June 9th and 10th is going to be very basic dormitary style. (about 1 star)
  2. 6 people to a room and common bathrooms. Water supply for bathroom may be very limited (or nil) if there is insufficient rain.
  3. the climb is going to be tiring and the steps up will seem to be unending! You cannot ask your team leader "how long more!" :) Just keep going till you get there. If you go at average pace, treks will be about 5 hours on day 1, 9 hours on day 2 (summit push and short route down) or 12 hours on day 2 (summit push and long scenic route down).
  4. Summit push will begin at 2:45am. So you need to sleep by 8pm on day 1 and wake up by 2am on day 2 to change, snack and depart. It will be crowded on Summit push day as it's a narrow path to summit and everyone is going up at the same time. (must be patient ... but it is an excellent excuse to take several pauses from the climb to see the breathe-taking stars)
  5. you must be responsible to carry your own things or pay a porter to carry for you (about S$40 per 10kg each way). So I suggest you carry as light as possible.
  6. there are 2 portions of the climb that require you to hold on to a rope for a steep climb. If you have a terrible fear of heights, this may be dangerous for you. Part of the training I have for you next year will include 1 session of simple rock climbing at Dairy Farm to simulate those 2 portions on Mt K.
  7. there WILL be rain during parts of the climb, so be prepared to be wet. (I'll give you a packing list soon to help you stay as dry as possible)
  8. bottled drinking water can be purchased on Base Camp (Laban Rata), but it will be about 4 times the price of "sea-level" bottled water.
  9. there are no hospitals once you start the climb. So climb safely and follow the guide's instructions. NO MESSING AROUND during the climb, as the effect of a small injury will be magnified by the difficult terrain.
  10. your flight back to S'pore must be June 12th morning or later.
Hope I didn't scare you too much, but it is important that you understand what you are getting into. Pls reply this email to me to indicate if you are still going or change your mind.

WOW good to go on this whole not-scaring us thing. The climb does not sound enjoyable at all. One-star hotels and a few hours of sleep a day?! The possibility of no water(sweet cows! what if moses comes?)?! Hoooo boy. It is going to be a really tough two day hike, so the snow and stars better be worth it.

6. Some moron stealing my socks in the block. And not both, but ONE! Is it not freaky enough that someone actually bothers nicking mangy pieces of fabric out of shoes, but only takes ONE OF THEM?? so now i have one red sock, one orange sock, a purple one, a yellow one and one of my stripy-black-and-white ones. So world, it is now up to you to decide whether wearing two socks of a different colour is a) extremely tacky or b) just about the best fashion statement to hit the streets since well, forever.

7. Totally screwing up Praise & Worship I AM SO SORRY JEN FOR NOT COMING IN CORRECTLY. meh this is why i shouldnt start anything because i space out in the middle of the song and uncle william has to come in and salvage the whole situation. so sorry music team! GACK.

8. Discovering that the Ting Tings are coming to Singapore next year! okay, so their not paramore or Jack's Mannequin or The Cab, but still! It'll be nice to know we're getting more than The Click Five or Miley Cyrus in the international music scene here. Anyone up for a good gig?

9. Also, discovering why Vampire Weekend has become so much more well-known in these circles. Because of 90210, THAT'S WHY. Because the so-called hottie of the series, Ty Collins, mentioned it ONCE and now everyone knows them. Ah the power of teenage romance series. But not to saw that is bad. The Beverly Hills remake boasts quite a few indie singles on its soundtracks, which is more than i can say for GG or anything else for that matter.

10. Having the following conversation with Mel and Luki just during supper at simpang bedok.

Me: ..... so how? what if we 'kenna' during the mount KK hike?
Mel: Oh my gosh yeah... * starts to discuss various solutions to the problem, totally oblivious to female male presence nearby.
Luki: See lah you all suffer so much. Because you all so stupid, and ate the Apple. *tries to look full of wisdomosity because of 'huge' bible knowledge.
Me: Well, you men are the stupid ones who listened to us and ate the apple afterwards.
Mel: Yah lah luki you should have been Adam right, since you're so smart?
Luki: of course!
Me: Eew then we'll all be desendents of... LUKI AND EVE. and we'll also be indonesian.

and also the hilarious taxi driver who drove us from church to simpang bedok, who kept babbling on and on about mysterious crystals who make B.O. go away and melanie doing the 'Cross' signs at the back. Didn't make it any better that luki said 'mmhmm' about a million times and made us all laugh.

That's it for tonight. Christmas is coming all! So cheer up :D
