hush, its The Quiet come to stay.

You sing all your songs
in the key of Heartbreaker,
and i cant help
but to sing along as well,
this enchantment on melody,
im ensnared in its beauty.

But i have to admit,
you're rather good at this.
catching raindrops on streets
and singing,
oh i sing your song.

Hey all, its been way to long since i last blogged. Its become quite a chore and things have been tres busy. Here are some pictures taken that i havent posted up. Apologies if the events are not in chronological order, i have quite a terror of a memory.

1. Okay first here are some pictures from kor swee cheng's photo exhibition. Of course a) since everything there was being sold at hundreds and b) because we were poor farts, we just ooh-ed and aah-ed over kor swee cheng's brilliant shots and mucked around outside.

The lads have become quite the vanity pack. taking cool photos and all.

jenny took like a billion more of nick. this is getting scary, older sisters should not lust over their younger brothers!!

OH GOODNESS ALEX.

2. Next, the last week was a major baking fest in our kitchen. To put a more homely feel into presents for the church and because we're sick of shopping, mother came up with this brilliant idea to bake cookies for well, pretty much everyone we know. Although it seemed like a really fun idea at first, it got dull and tiring after the hmmm, 1000th cookie??!

No i do not exaggerate. We clocked in a total of 16 hours of baking almost 2000 cookies and packing them into containers and writing endless labels and getting burnt by heated racks. it was mad mad mad work.

Sheri's silver nails (eek.) and the cookie dough.

3. So i pretty much turned sixteen last wednesday. I never really did celebrate my birthdays but this year i was fortunate enough to be granted two surprises! Tuesday night after jamming headed down to Vivo's bakerzin to have dinner with the usual bums. It was fun stuff, the steak and mushroom sandwich was drool worthy.

The best part of the evening was probably when the waiter forgot to bring in the surprise cake.

gerry also announced to all of us that she was going to canada and won't know when she'll be coming back. Wowee. And with no return ticket somemore!

Thanks for the aussome present :) i heard emilia had to hop around and breathe life into the bear or whatever crap the shop people made them do, so thanksmuch for embarrasing yourself!

4. This ridiculous surprise party at my place on wednesday planned elaborately by the youth group. It was quite um, surprising. except mel accidently spilt everyone the night before and i would be lying if i said i didnt expect something weird to happen like that.

What WAS surprising, tho, was the fact that mom was lying to me the whole time. I was under the impression that all the food was for her chinese lifenet but it wasnt. Mom, you are insanely fantastic at lying!

They made me do all sorts of weird crap so i could get my birthday present such as...
a) headbang and do airguitar. the perils of too many people reading your blog.
b) Spaz on the floor like some dying cockroach
c) sing crushcrushcrush and run rounds around my house, which in case you haven't noticed isn't big exp with twenty people scattered around.

and whole lot of other stuff. and they made me rip up a teddy bear too GAH.

4. Went out with shanna to shop for some stuff on thursday if im not wrong. was dead tired.

BWAHAHAHAH. i knew your time would come.

anyway we were walking from heeren (bought twilight soundtrack and kisschasy from HMV, the only place to be!) to far east and it was raining pups and kittens. Like srsly. So instead of waiting at the lobby of the building like all the other cheap bozos, went to get an umbrella from seven eleven. but because we were also somewhat cheap bozos, we only got one and it was hell.

By the time we got to far east, we were freaking wet and cold and laughing our asses off.

5. On saturday me ains nic and luki went to the swee lee sale. i cant remember for peanuts what we were doing before that. anyhoos, it was 50% off and i really didnt expect to buy anything at all. So it seemed kind of a waste of time to cue up for an hour to get to the showroom.

BUT GUESS WHAT. I BOUGHT A FENDER STRATOCASTER. its wicked, and also a dream fulfilled. Plus a hard case and the strap locks (so i can try and swing the guitar around like rockstars do XD) and altogether it came up to about eight hundred dollars. Uncle william was nice enough to pay for it with his american express card when the bleep bleep from the NETS machine announced my account was a few dollars short. So i am officially wiped out.

Well as luki said, better to be poor and happy then to be rich and sad(which doesn't make sense figuratively because it is VAIR hard to be sad if you're filthy rich.)

Nick also bought a fender Jazz bass which cost about 1k plus total. ITS THE SAME ONE JEREMY DAVIS OF PARAMORE USES. absolutely brilliant.

6. Oh i remember what we did. Mom woke me up in the wee hours or dawn (8am, that is) to go to some ridiculous bodynits sale. caught a lift from aunt carol and jen and was whisked off to the factory, still groggy.

The worst of singaporean behaviour, EVER. Aunties were mad. They would push and shove and grab clothes right out of your hands! I heard a couple of the aunties swear in hokkien or some other crude dialect of the sort, and a snatching match ensued. I am sad to say that most of our church 'ladies', including my mom who i have always thought of as quite dignified, became like one of those teeth-baring aunties. Its amazing how good deals can bring out the worst in us.

7. Melahornie's surprise thing after church. we were mooching around because we always mooch around after church, and had nothing to do. Decided not to watch a movie and went to vivo instead to mooch. Went to this exhibition and alex wanted to go into some ice-room with a temperature of -1.5degrees.

So after that boring exhibition went to starbucks a.k.a money extortion coffee branch to hang out. Jennifer whipped out a pad and started to write a list of things to do after church besides being losers and hanging out at starbucks. Jie ains disappeared to get the cake from bakerzin for ONE HOUR and mel kept asking where she was. It was horrible.

The reason: SHE WENT TO THE WRONG STARBUCKS. apparently there are two starbucks in vivo and after getting the cake she went to the wrong one. unbelievable.

So it was sort of an epic failure. But none the less, a cake is a cake, and a birthday is a birthday. hurrah!

8. Dad got a new webcam and my ipod classic (FINALLY! but refuses to give it to me yet since my phone bill overshot.) so that means SKYPE ALL THE TIME. Webcaming is wikkid. Laughing your ass off while daring/watching justin to eat cat food is good. But hearing him say that it tasted, quote unquote, 'pretty darn aussome', is worrying.

perhaps you were a cat in your past life.

9. Sleepover at Jen's. She mauled me around her house as usual. SHE HAS THE STRENGTH OF A MAN. unforgettable moments: Jennifer crushing on some fat doo-da on television and hacking away at the movie itself. Waking up at 8am in the morning to a good american breakfast (aunty carol's homecooked food is brilliant) and snoozing all the way to penin. went to get megan's bass guitar. It was hilarious, because megan is as pint-sized as pint-sized can get, and the bass is huge on her. Imagine a little girl carrying an instrument she's only a couple of inches taller then. now you know.

10. Watched 'Don't forget the lyrics Singapore' reruns today after i knocked out for a couple of hours. HAS ANYONE SEEN OUR SCHOOL cleaner superintendent dancing on the stage?!! Yes he was on the show as one of the contestant's helpline and i called emilia to make sure it was him. It was a horrendous sight because a) He was wearing the same pink shirt like he wears all the freaking time, b) can't dance for his life and c) because he is a fifty-year old man. Fifty-year old men DO NOT go on local television shows and shake it. Its just wrong. and it should be barred, in my opinion.

but it was a pretty good laugh anyway.

Random stuff like that. Tomorrow there's music practise for christmas service and some other stuff before. There's absolutely no more time for jamming and learning/playing dota at alex's house, and that is tres sad. On a lighter note, the Angus Thongs gang are watching the movie this friday!

I can't wait. Walked past Shaw's Humongous Ad screen earlier today and saw Ultraviolet playing and sang along like a nut. Obviously, i was with the wrong people because Nick and Luki couldnt be bothered with 'The Hottest Living Dude on Earth with a Smexy British Accent'. BAH YOU'LL SEE.

Sorry for the looooong post. goodnight all, dawn is near.

P.S HAPPY BIRTHDAY MEL IF YOU ARE READING THIS. i hate choo for those pictures and the video. you are the worst, but you are also mel and so i forgive you. see you soon :)

You keep pushing and pulling me down.

but i caught myself.

So here's a quick update before i hit the sack for tomorrow.

These days have been full of music practices and over-shopping. Did i mention i survived bugis street? I just loathe going there, but apparently marilyn knew all the hot spots and i got my jeans quick. PHEW. We ate hella lot. Also, marilyn's new temporary obsession is TENNIS. So we went to look at 200-dollar racquets(is this how you spell it?? Justin said 'its RACKET lah'. you're right, bozo.) and she moaned and groaned and i left for music practise.

Here's a cool panel that jenny drew, which is a common occurance in the renegades music practise. As usual, i'm the otaku-ish looking one in a black shirt and thick glasses, which is a stereotype jen often uses in her drawings. Some things never change.

Its something jen never gets cause she's music-retarded. HAHA sorry but you said so yourself.
Lifenet, more music practise, dinner at maxwells.

P.S. paramore.net is having a 10% sales on almost all their items. i definitely want the twilight package right now because the other paramore song 'I Caught Myself' is wicked and worth the buy(also, we'll be able to get a few laughs out of it from rob pattison's track.)

LOVE THE MERCHANDISE. want it soooo bad.

Too much to drink, she's a vision in pink.

he asks,
and skips away,
skips away to the beat of my heart,
now you wonder why,
he stole it
and called it his own.

Who is it?
and i want to know.
but he stole all the answers,
and we're left with none to show.

Who is the most beautiful person you know?
I shoot back the question to its keeper,
And its just like him to reply,
Its none other than you.
Well its times like these
that i'm at a loss for words.

Firstly, some long overdue barbeque pictures.

Oh i must first explain that all those fuzzy snapshots with the neon-squiggly things are a result of Joy's discovery of creating 'Holga-style-pictures' without using an actual Holga. Which is a brilliant discovery indeed for unfortunate, holga-less people. Its a trade-secret!

The first pic when i am very unglamly chewing something. Ang look at the ghost effect of another me at the bottom left hand corner!! creeepy huh!!!?!

OOOOH. holga-style pictures also amplify a whole lot of other things. cough cough.

Joy's evolution into a three-headed creature had us all stunned momentarily.

ah with the right jersey number and all.

Oh i forgot to mention it, but some of us came as the twilight cast. But since the costume-party idea was abandoned, we threw the cut-out faces of bella/edward/james/alice etc etc all around XQ's porch. So dismembered faces on ice-cream sticks were everywhere, which looked extremely hilarious, not to mention grotesque.

Looks like Bella Swan's accident-prone nature really got her into serious injury this time.

AHHA. amanda came as um, a princess.
and she's in germany now, lucky gal.

polariods are wicked.

Yesterday someone suggested that we go play tennis at Jie ains house, and it seemed like a pretty good idea. A rather nice change from being a couch potato all the time, so headed there and knocked some balls around the court for near three hours. I think i'm pretty bad at tennis. I mean, all we did in the first hour was um, serve. But Mel's stupid OH NO dance sure cracked me up(so did luki's reaction everytime he missed a shot. hilarious.) the twins and jie ains were brilliant at the game, as usual. Nick came to sit at the side and mope about his broken arm haahaa.

Dinner at simpang again and mel screaming about cats and what not. Also talked about the fact that we are showcasing the christmas skit to the church LIVE this sunday, instead of just showing the video on the screen. Apparently, the length of video turned out pretty screwed up and there's no choice but to show it. I only hope alex doesnt get a front row seat and make us all laugh in the middle of the play LIKE HE ALWAYS DOES THAT CLOWN.

OHHH i made mel a facebook account. It is aussome, though i do feel pretty bad about putting those unglam photos up. Not.

Went christmas shopping with mom today because she threatened that she'll get me a set of scented candles for christmas if i didnt go with her. Phooo what a drag.

Tomorrow i'm out with Marilyn to go bugis and get ripped off by sweaty, middle-aged shop owners who tout those Little Miss Shirts for their life. Hopefully i'll be able to pick up a pair of black skinny jeans so i don't need to borrow them from Mel everytime we have a full-dress rehearsal. and marilyn, YOU BETTER NOT LAUGH AT ME!!!

Goodnight all.

Are we human or are we dancers?

Dance dance,
you tell me this time it won't be the same
dance dance,
Behind the doors of my heart

Dance dance,
We glide past handprints on walls
and ghosts in mirrors,
Dance dance,
You hold me but yet you are so far,
speak up so i can wake up from this nightmare
and dance,
Dance.

Another week has come and gone. Strange how holidays always pass waaay to fast. It seems that the term 'O-levels' has become such a faraway thing, an almost unrecognisable term. Or is it just me? Because I almost forget what studying my butt off felt like. :)

I can't really remember what happened this whole week, its all pretty much a blur. So here are the highlights, in no particular order at all. (excluding pictures because these days i lack inspiration/am too lazy to whip out my camera or the battery is perpetually dead.)

1) Xiao Qi's halloween dress up party/her sweet 16th. Which i have to say, nearly no one dressed up for. So much for the epic plans of elaborate dress ups. Frankly speaking, im sick to death of fancy dress parties, so it was fun to just chill out on the patio and eat all the chicken kebabs till everyone yelled at me. Highlight was probably when we went upstairs and took snazzy pictures with Xiao Qi's uber expensive dresses. OR when dearest janna arrived as Troy Bolton (wildcats jersey and cheap basketball and all)

2) Hanging out with the usual bums at that place in pasir ris with a giant cadbury wheel. It sounds totally lame, but it is somewhere nice to crash after you've been to town one too many times. Bowled for a while and ate at some flashy japanese restaurants, watch WILDCHILD. Alex Pettyfer a.k.a Alex Rider in stormbreaker FTW! Who does not love hot dudes with hot british accents in authentic british boarding houses! It is a flashback to Enid Blyton days, Naughtiest Girl, St Clares, malory towers etc etc.

3) Getting the Killers CD from a Secret Admirer haha just kidding. Thank you Will B. for the very early birthday present! have a brilliant time in Sweden, don't forget to right a postcard! Don't you just love finding a package in the mail specially for you?

4) Church Drama Rehearsals. hard to believe the skit preparation started of in about July...? I for one, think its absolutely brilliant. Mela(hor)nie is really an aussome actress/dancer with a chicken leg and the asian Jesus a.k.a Luki is good too. Although the rehearsals are pretty tiring with LOADS of physical activity, its been pretty much fun um acting as a drunk girl.

5) Climbing of Mount KK in Malaysia next year and its endless preparations the buzz in church nowadays are pretty much about church camp and the mountain climb for the 'fitter' people after the entire camp is over. It all sounded pretty fun, and with the pretty scenic pictures on the powerpoint slides and the reassurance of the entire youth team going, i signed up. All seemed well till i opened my email this morning. The following is an forwarded email from Pastor William. I kid you not.

Dear KK climbers, pls note that:
  1. the housing on June 9th and 10th is going to be very basic dormitary style. (about 1 star)
  2. 6 people to a room and common bathrooms. Water supply for bathroom may be very limited (or nil) if there is insufficient rain.
  3. the climb is going to be tiring and the steps up will seem to be unending! You cannot ask your team leader "how long more!" :) Just keep going till you get there. If you go at average pace, treks will be about 5 hours on day 1, 9 hours on day 2 (summit push and short route down) or 12 hours on day 2 (summit push and long scenic route down).
  4. Summit push will begin at 2:45am. So you need to sleep by 8pm on day 1 and wake up by 2am on day 2 to change, snack and depart. It will be crowded on Summit push day as it's a narrow path to summit and everyone is going up at the same time. (must be patient ... but it is an excellent excuse to take several pauses from the climb to see the breathe-taking stars)
  5. you must be responsible to carry your own things or pay a porter to carry for you (about S$40 per 10kg each way). So I suggest you carry as light as possible.
  6. there are 2 portions of the climb that require you to hold on to a rope for a steep climb. If you have a terrible fear of heights, this may be dangerous for you. Part of the training I have for you next year will include 1 session of simple rock climbing at Dairy Farm to simulate those 2 portions on Mt K.
  7. there WILL be rain during parts of the climb, so be prepared to be wet. (I'll give you a packing list soon to help you stay as dry as possible)
  8. bottled drinking water can be purchased on Base Camp (Laban Rata), but it will be about 4 times the price of "sea-level" bottled water.
  9. there are no hospitals once you start the climb. So climb safely and follow the guide's instructions. NO MESSING AROUND during the climb, as the effect of a small injury will be magnified by the difficult terrain.
  10. your flight back to S'pore must be June 12th morning or later.
Hope I didn't scare you too much, but it is important that you understand what you are getting into. Pls reply this email to me to indicate if you are still going or change your mind.

WOW good to go on this whole not-scaring us thing. The climb does not sound enjoyable at all. One-star hotels and a few hours of sleep a day?! The possibility of no water(sweet cows! what if moses comes?)?! Hoooo boy. It is going to be a really tough two day hike, so the snow and stars better be worth it.

6. Some moron stealing my socks in the block. And not both, but ONE! Is it not freaky enough that someone actually bothers nicking mangy pieces of fabric out of shoes, but only takes ONE OF THEM?? so now i have one red sock, one orange sock, a purple one, a yellow one and one of my stripy-black-and-white ones. So world, it is now up to you to decide whether wearing two socks of a different colour is a) extremely tacky or b) just about the best fashion statement to hit the streets since well, forever.

7. Totally screwing up Praise & Worship I AM SO SORRY JEN FOR NOT COMING IN CORRECTLY. meh this is why i shouldnt start anything because i space out in the middle of the song and uncle william has to come in and salvage the whole situation. so sorry music team! GACK.

8. Discovering that the Ting Tings are coming to Singapore next year! okay, so their not paramore or Jack's Mannequin or The Cab, but still! It'll be nice to know we're getting more than The Click Five or Miley Cyrus in the international music scene here. Anyone up for a good gig?

9. Also, discovering why Vampire Weekend has become so much more well-known in these circles. Because of 90210, THAT'S WHY. Because the so-called hottie of the series, Ty Collins, mentioned it ONCE and now everyone knows them. Ah the power of teenage romance series. But not to saw that is bad. The Beverly Hills remake boasts quite a few indie singles on its soundtracks, which is more than i can say for GG or anything else for that matter.

10. Having the following conversation with Mel and Luki just during supper at simpang bedok.

Me: ..... so how? what if we 'kenna' during the mount KK hike?
Mel: Oh my gosh yeah... * starts to discuss various solutions to the problem, totally oblivious to female male presence nearby.
Luki: See lah you all suffer so much. Because you all so stupid, and ate the Apple. *tries to look full of wisdomosity because of 'huge' bible knowledge.
Me: Well, you men are the stupid ones who listened to us and ate the apple afterwards.
Mel: Yah lah luki you should have been Adam right, since you're so smart?
Luki: of course!
Me: Eew then we'll all be desendents of... LUKI AND EVE. and we'll also be indonesian.

and also the hilarious taxi driver who drove us from church to simpang bedok, who kept babbling on and on about mysterious crystals who make B.O. go away and melanie doing the 'Cross' signs at the back. Didn't make it any better that luki said 'mmhmm' about a million times and made us all laugh.

That's it for tonight. Christmas is coming all! So cheer up :D
