Early in the Advent

Christmas fest last week (actually it took up the better part of the months of october and novemeber) which was pretty fun :D cheers to tagteamsisterfromanothermother dayna who came and poor clare who tried to but failed because of her fail domestic helper life.

Dinner with the ling family afterwards! Sashimi @wahiro and gelato @cocogelato. Surrounded by intense atasness, enough to make you faint!

Today marks the start of intense studying! Makes me wonder why I'm online looking at mean girls spoofs and watching backdated episodes of GLEE.

Gold Gun Girls.

An air of enchantment,
day of half-smiles and secret flutters
Like a spark in evening light.

There's something about the striped sweaters,
and mischievous grins.
Maybe she'll love somebody
Someday

So yesterday I spent the whole day taking naps, listening to Metric and Closure in Moscow and painting. And yes, it was a school day. Mom thinks the occasional skive is healthy; playing a bit of hooky never did anyone harm ;D

School has become a blur. Days filled with teachers yelling at me for no apparent reason (I kid you not), essays after essays, and the endless lessons. Still, there are always the chalk-doodles on class tables and my two awesome 'sidekicks' (literally. Cause they are beside me. Get it? Yes.) Tiara and Suatty.

Friday we had Alfresco! It was hella more fun than I would have imagined it to be. Had to perform for it and being the slacker band that we were, we choosed, arranged and practised three pieces a couple hours before the actual event.

A day full of stuffing our faces and well, stuffing our faces.

Found this series of photos highly entertaining.

'wait for me! 2T07 photo!'

'eh- you're not from our class! GO AWAY!'

'UM okay?!'
*Success*

Besides that, everything has been rather quiet.

Went for Island Creamery with Clare and Joan today, and off to NTU so that Luki could give me a tour. Ended up reaching at 530 because 1. The bus to Clementi MRT broke down in the middle of the road, 2. Pioneer MRT might as well be in Malaysia and 3. NTU is just too massive for its own good.

Its really pretty tho. Nicer than NUS. Hmmmm.

Watched a ridiculously bad movie after that, which name now escapes me. Professer something and the immortal something. OH GOODNESS. But we scoffed tons of food at Fish&Co. after that cause Luki found out about this top secret $1 fish and chips deal with NO STRINGS ATTACHED teehee. We are cheap like that.

Teppanyaki/Fish&Co. again with the girls again tomorrow, and movie with patrick and will! Whip it whip it whip it!

Up in five hours. Night everyone :)

Love is.

'Love is when you tell a guy you like his shirt, then he wears it every day' Noelle, 7
'When someone loves you, the way they say your name is different. You just know that your name is safe in their mouth' - Billy, 4
'I know my older sister loves me because she gives me all her old clothes and has to go out and buy new ones' - Lauren, 4
'Love is when you go out to eat and give somebody most of your french fries without making them give you any of theirs' - Chrissy, 6
'When you love somebody, your eyelashes do up and down and little stars come out of you' Karen, 7

What love was before we all grew up. Although Lauren is probably just a product of an older sister's scheme to get new clothes (! sounds like a lot of people including me) and I'm thinking Karen just watches waaaay too many cartoons, it is pretty sweet :)

Since when did we lose the innocence? It's rather sad that now love and relationships have become more of breaking hearts and politics. Enough about senseless musings! These are what the last couple of weeks have been like.

These are some random cross country pictures from ages ago!

Miss brother Paul like mad now. He was one of the best parts of CJC and now... well, shall not comment on current leadership except EWWWW TTM.

Vintage photography

Then there was Desiree's party which was impromptu but kinda fun. Since like HALF the people there worked at ICC there was tons of free ice cream. And tell me, what is better than free ice-cream which you do not have to queue two hours for (free cone day which I missed AGAIN.)

Geeky specs are just plain awesome.

Love sissy

Went for NUS open house with Clare and Rach a couple of weeks ago if I'm not wrong and it was kinda fail. Well actually we basically took a train for about a 5000years just to get there, eat some pretty average Japanese food and hopped on a random train. Only thing accomplished was that we managed to get some free ice-cream and check out the facilitis+dorms there. New goal = to stay in block 5, which is the so called happening block!! Town for shaved ice and shopping after!

Hanging out with the cube girls in town last week :) Larking about and as usual not getting much done at all. Hahaha!

Finally met up with Sarah G who is heading off to stiff-upper-lip-agogo-land next week, or more specifically, the hometown of SKINS, to study. Crepes at Marche and Alice in Wonderland was brilliant. Hope to see them again tomorrow!

Lastly there's the wedding of the year! Daniel and Yvonne finally got hitched yay :) Loads of 'disasters' that day, like absolutely torture-instruments called heels and standing in front of the whole ceremony so I could go to the loo but finding the door locked and having to sit down again. Ah.

A nice picture with Nick for once! He looks nice when he is not fooling around and making spastic faces.

whites vs black, good vs evil!
YAY TO JEN AND I! miss mel like mad. But she is coming back soon! :))

They should totally get together two decades later.

School is a pain in the behind as per usual. Have no idea why I go there day after day just to flunk math tests and do senseless things like run 2.4 (THANK GOODNESS ITS OVER THO and we never have to do it ever again) or go for CCA.

MM auditions however, was pretty fun. Nice that Andre went home cause he was sick (nice one mr president of mm) and Alastair had soccer so I was left alone. Rather disorganized but by the end of the hour managed to get everyone 'auditioned' < in inverted commas since they are not really auditions. Not like MM rejects anyone anyway!

Alfresco on Friday! Sssssh(!) is totally unprepared for the gig but hell. Since its an acoustic set I suppose we can just wing it? Hahaha.

Also rather excited for an acoustic band that Jared and Jared's friend and I are forming. Performing at Timbre's over the holidays are our first goal! Should be fun.

But for now there's a bunch of other things to worry about. First, scraping together a decent set of grades so that our wonderful principal won't be such a twat about letting me go to Australia in June. Ah joy.

Magnetic poetry

The past few days have been amazing, exhilarating, horrifying and peaceful all at the same time.

Forgetting all the details, I'm just glad that Dad is now pretty much stabilized and everything has calmed down more or less. Thank you everyone for the support and prayers, it was very much needed. Yesterday would have been terrifying if not for you guys.

I kinda promised God that if Dad was alright, I would do missionary work somewhere after A-levels for a few months, so I guess now would be an apt time to plan WHERE. Haha.

Rockafella on Friday was pretty awesome. So many terrible things were happening before it started, incredibly slow set-up team, cranky sound system and almost zilch sound-check and rehearsal time.

Worst of all, by a cruel twist of fate (melodrama! melodrama!) Azriel managed to accidently snap my E-string whilst sliding all over the audi-ex floor and doing guitar antics. So that resulted in a good hour of panic, with Jared, who pretty much became Ssssshh!'s right-hand man (with the cymbal-playing, advice-dude etc etc) preparing to run off to penin to get strings while we did our soundcheck. But Amos finally came through with his spare strings and everything was alright :D

All the rehearsals finally paid off cause WE WON! epic stuff. Made tons of new friends (love Rocket Swan, they are such funky people) and it was just a great experience.

Of course, now that that's over, there's nothing much to separate us from common tests. 'Cept wait, CJ's annual cross country run. Fantastic.

Oh, but wait. I heard May and Sylvia are dressing up as Napolean and Napolean's horse as our class mascot (according to the ridiculous PE department's theme of 'CJC GOES FRENCH'). That ought to spice things up a little bit :D

Snap!

A polaroid for everyday starting from tomorrow. A tiny project to make the passing of mundane days a little more interesting.

Our rockefella audition is pushed up till tomorrow, horrors of horrors. So that means I will have to haul the heavy semi-acoustic and all the effects pedals to school for a fifteen minute jam session. Hopefully it will all be worth it.

I promise there will be more pictures up soon :) I've taken a ton but the flesh is oh-so-weak.

I smell cookies.

Say what you need to say,

It was over before it began,
the sky is turning darker
the things we left behind
are not getting any better

So now I'll remember
when the days used to be sweet like sunshine.

As Mr Farhi called as shallow-minded people (recall a certain braincell-numbing GP lesson?) for not jotting down or daily rambles, here's what happened in the past week of school.

Open house was crazy. I know MM hasn't exactly been the most dedicated or punctual or methodical, but open house jamming was absolutely spiffay. Hello, switchfoot and paramore ditties. The two performances weren't brilliant or anything, but we got by.

Nick Loo and his lack of vocal chords never fail to receive a chorus of 'SHUT UP' from all of us. Hilarious times.

oh and the most adorable kid walked by and got soooo obsessed with the guitar! One of the teacher's, i think.

Awww he actually cried when we took the guitar away to pack D:

Shaved ice with Rach & Clare afterrr! It was icy-heaven.

Lucy's 23rd birthday celebration on wednesday, at this aussome jap restaurant we stumbled upon a while back. happy birthday lucy! Look 16yrs old forever!

And on Thursday, Mandy Moose & Tiara flew off to Paris a.k.a. land-of-sexy-accents-agogo-land, and left yours truly's sad butt behind. It is a major suckfest whilst you are mooching around school and dragging yourself up from bed at 6am every morning, your mates are out dining alfresco and wearing berets and meeting hot french lads. Well, we deal.

Besides the week of late nights and even later nights, we're all gearing up for CJ's annual Rockefella concert auditions. It's crazy how auditions are next week. Besides Rockefella, there's always the

For some reason, jamming today is fixed from 9pm till the next morning, so hello angry neighbours of azriel's/pris'.

Have a good first weekend everyone!

sorry

Love Song For No One.

And you know,
I've got no qualms
about walking on the street tonight,
I'm waiting for you.
Lover, i never met.

Crossing pavements,
I'm falling off the edge of the world here,
But you're nowhere to be found.
Don't take your time any longer,
Lover, I've never met.

Sunrise,
How you come too soon.
How you ebb away.

This is a love song
To someone I don't know.
I've enough of being alone,
Love.

School has been a blast. Minus the endless tests and piling homework. We manage!

Been rather busy, especially since there was Uncle Berwin's wake this week and a show we had to play this week.

It was real fun tho! (the gig, not the wake.) :D I miss all of that. We played a few original numbers, the final unmasking off 'The Dreamer'! It was epic. Brilliant arrangement from Cal, i am so glad we've got him to add spice to our lyrics. New place which was pretty wicked, Hall's Hideway, if i recall correctly. More detail on Jake's!

ANYWAY back to school life.
I crowned Kai the new ice-queen. We had this ridiculous debate session against the USSR & China state, and obviously we were totally unprepared and was nearly thrashed by the other group, even though we DID have the debating pro AMANDA. Ahhem. SURPRISINGLY, the whole class voted for us! Uh huh :D

We made an awesome poster too.

Suat Ning: Eh do you watch bananas in pyjamas?
Me: YES.
SN: Okay you be C1 and i be C2!! (for Cube 1 and cube 2)
Me: Huh?

So we (more like SHE) devised this little routine, inspired by the likes of Bananas in Pyjamas.

SN: C1, are YOU thinking what i'm thinking?
Me: I think i am C2!
*simultaneously do that head-bobbing action while SN makes 'booing' sound.

But you guys probably don't get it.

And a little something we were going during SD lesson that made lao shi so flipping mad when we actually thought it would made her laugh. It's lao shi's top ten favourite lines!!! Which i wrote out for chinese penmanship practise. BTW, suat ning is my mentor for chinese and she is absolutely USELESS. hahahaha.

I'm point number 4. Wow wee.
but i think point 5 is the most hilarious.

Will throw in other significant moments from the past few days.

Yi wen: Ms Yoong has a lot of eyelids.

Amos: *says some mushy stuff
Me: Amos, you're such an emotional and touchy person.
Amos: Well, i know how to touch a girl's soft spot.
*SILENCE.
Amos: In her heart!

Ms Yoong during math lecture: STACY CAN YOU PLEASE CALM DOWN.

Okay that aside.
Still can't get much studying done! So dead for math.

Rather glad that we're skipping PE tomorrow.

oh btw, american idol was phwoarrr.
WAIT. A tribute to awesome megan joy who got 'eliminated' last week.

Was so depressed that i didnt see much point watching AI anymore. But this week's one was mind-blowing.

MATT, NEEDLESS TO SAY, WAS WICKED.

DIG THE HAT, BABY! (and the vocals. all that jazz.)
Adam lambert has redeemed himself in my eyes from that awful Ring Of Fire performance. He looked a bit like David Tutera tonight. But still hot *winks.

Tomorrow' s the last day of the week. Weekend, here i come!
Night folks.

for one night only.

Really,
this was nothing more
than i thought it was.

But you,
oh how you
manage to tread on autumn leaves,
and deliver the script
which such certainty.

I don't know how to feel. Listless, maybe.

This week had been a mish-mash of various activites, and it never seems to end. And i swear, the jetlag is becoming more annoying. I hate waking up at two in the afternoon feeling like an absolute hobo (yes, I believe I've hit rockbottom.), although i must admit i rather enjoy the 4am nights. Starworld shows the best half-hour hits in the dead of the night, and tell me, who does not love old reruns on seinfeld? and Friends, According to Jim etcetc.

Its a pity that this NLOFC or NLFOC or a conference of some sort had to happen this week when class chalet was on. Felt absolutely bummed out that i had to miss sleeping over as well as the 'big' second night at Aloha Loyang, and attended the conference at night instead. The first day was wicked tho. We totally rock at mahjong yo.

Also, played a small acoustic set at Jake's, and the crowd was good :) Wheeee. Although J totally tripped over the wires and his head almost got stuck in the ice bucket. If there's someone clumsier than me, its gotta be him. I really love playing at smaller gigs because of the aussome people, besides the fact that there are less indie snobs at mainstream haters to leap at your throat if we even PLAY a BLG hit.

Anyway, it was really good. I miss that.

Oh here's a shot of us celebrating gerry's surprise. Seventeen is such a useless age(i reckon we should just skip that one and go to fabulous eighteen!), but we all have to go through it. And totally rocking the karaoke place at Kallang. HILARIOUS.

And also found out results were coming out next monday. Thus, the listless-ness.

Today on the way to meeting some church folks, a bunch of dudes wearing ACJC tees came on the train. I guess i kinda realised how much i wanted to get into that school at that point of time.

But as the saying goes, this is all but a 'pipe dream'. Besides, the release of JAE's cut-off points pretty much shook me back to the real world. This feeling of anxiety is the worst. Sometimes i think if i had just thought DSAing when it was the right time and thinking ahead when i should have, things would be more different.

But i guess now there's no other choice but to open up to other options and just pray. Really really hard.

************major moping shite over.

Its time to hit the snooze button. The LAST meeting is held tomorrow at RELC, and i have to wake up at daybreak just to get there in time. Aww cow's bum. Goodnight all, have a good weekend :)
