'That time was like never and like always'

What an interesting semester it's been... Wouldn't trade a moment of it for anything.

The silver flush on your cheeks

Buying a used Polaroid One Step off a friend for twenty dollars seemed like a pretty good idea; that is, till I saw the prices Amazon were asking for 600 polaroid colour film. $150 for 20 exposures? Not in a million years.

It's times like these we turn to projects like the IMPOSSIBLE POLAROID REVIVAL: people with a passion for instant photography, who has developed new Silver Shade Exposure technology for the average nostalgia-lover. And not at ridiculously overpriced rates too.

I loved the sample shots, the brilliant inconsistency of it all. Splurge excessively on online photography accessories? I think so.

It's a boxed-up world

In the past two weeks, I've inhaled countless dust bunnies and taped together one too many disintegrating cardboard boxes. Packing gets too tiring after all. But let's face it, we all secretly enjoy the chore. It's a treasure trove waiting to be discovered at the back of your drawer and a nostalgic pill rifling through old photos & letters.

Right now though, my once-colourful room (post-its, band posters and pin-up polaroids) has become a blank canvas. Absolutely boring. Can't wait to shift in 36 hours time and mess up a whole other room! Been to the new crib a couple of times to help set things up and I'm proud to say that I put together a chair with my own bare hands!

Of course, I did it a hundred wrong ways, even with idiot-proof IKEA instructions and only 8 bolts to screw in. I did it in the end though, to prove my doubtful parental units wrong! Ha.

HOW-KANG AWAITS. Guess who my parents are voting for on Election day.

Waxing lyrical on polaroids

Five different events in 2010, but all of them brilliant. Especially the last one... Weep, all you Temper Trap fans!

Procrastination nearly always gets the better of me... When I shoot a roll of film, don't expect it to get developed anytime soon. Chances are, it'll take me anywhere from a month to half a year to bring them to a proper photography place, and spend another month sitting in the shop till an irate photo developer calls me up and demands that I pick it up.

While sifting through thick stacks of polaroids has been nostalgic (and I wish I could return to those moments... Sydney for Hillsong conference, or listening to the acoustic version of Fader by TT one more time), it gets me excited about what's gonna happen this year as well. Feeling pretty optimistic at the moment and I don't know why! That's a good thing... right?

Till next!

Early in the Advent

Christmas fest last week (actually it took up the better part of the months of october and novemeber) which was pretty fun :D cheers to tagteamsisterfromanothermother dayna who came and poor clare who tried to but failed because of her fail domestic helper life.

Dinner with the ling family afterwards! Sashimi @wahiro and gelato @cocogelato. Surrounded by intense atasness, enough to make you faint!

Today marks the start of intense studying! Makes me wonder why I'm online looking at mean girls spoofs and watching backdated episodes of GLEE.

Such a small kid at the big kid table

I think I may be spending too much money on toy cameras, film, and accessories!

Will be flying off to sydney in a little less than a day. The feeling of having no more exams and skiving off school for a week and having a great time at the hillsong conference is just fantastic! Days of music classes, awesome food and wearing beanies/scarves/boots/trenchies :) Of course, not forgetting why we're all truely going there: to get to know God on a more personal level.

So long, Singapore and it's highly erratic weather.

Hanging out with friends these couple of days have been too much fun. See you @jam, faith!

but then I just smile

How do we name the days?
What people do with the minutes,
I do with memories.

Train station in the early evening,
we are drowning in sweet nostalgia here, honey,
Frankly,
I'm getting tired of living
in yesterday.

So I hit the ground now,
I've been living up there for too long
and the night's getting gray.

I'm sorry for not updating this space more than I should. Suat told me I should be more like Kai, who painstakingly finds something to blog-worthy everyday. Me, I forget things as soon as they come along.

Live in the moment, I always say.

So, photos. (in chronological order!)

spot the boo-boo D:
Some band pictures!

three cheers for being absolutely spontaneous.

Who said a band with three guitarists can't rock out?

awww kieran. We will miss him when he goes for rehabilitation the operation

overexposed shot: originally supposed to be some roadside ice-cream shop. It was actually super frustrating/worrying that the film didn't come out the first time I took it, but I guess it turned out for the best.
shaved ice selling like hotcakes. Oh, the irony.

one of the best bands. ever.
late-night tea times.

Another highlight of the week was creating the most legendary group to ever enter facebook. This occurred somehow when we were talking about skins season 4 (PHOTO POST SOON) and it evolved into this>

116 members and counting. Watch out for us.

And stop using our page to advertise your lame fish group, alex(is)!

Yesterday went out for a number of music practices and a rather unexpected picnic. No comment. 'Cept, Leon's 'suspenders and AH-HEM' joke is probably etched into my memory forever! Hilarious stuff.

Midnight. Urgh, so not looking forward to school tomorrow for a variety of reasons. Unfinished homework and unfinished business. Wow this is annoying.

So goodnight guys, and here's to the next beckoning weekend!

Snap!

A polaroid for everyday starting from tomorrow. A tiny project to make the passing of mundane days a little more interesting.

Our rockefella audition is pushed up till tomorrow, horrors of horrors. So that means I will have to haul the heavy semi-acoustic and all the effects pedals to school for a fifteen minute jam session. Hopefully it will all be worth it.

I promise there will be more pictures up soon :) I've taken a ton but the flesh is oh-so-weak.

I smell cookies.

They carved the message deep within (a broken heart that failed to mend!)

DANG. Just when I've gotten used to writing '2009' in all my dates.

2009 has been pretty legendary. Last year, I was thrown into a brand new school and forced to sit in a classroom full of smelly noisy dudes, and have 12-hour days (which is heck on someone with a short-attention span). I've been to a hell lot of concerts, read some pretty incredible novels and I've worn out a few leather-bound journals with my illegible scrawl. Drifted away from people, but made some more who honestly made 2009 an easier year to get by.

I'm not a fan of change (then again, who is?), but 2010 here we come!

Another photo update on the post-christmas and new year front, since I'm pretty lazy like that :)

KL 2009 (Getting by with a little help from my friends)

Polaroids from me, photo credits for the rest to jen!

This, is actually a road sign. I kid you not.

Three-dollar Ray Bans never go out of style ;D

Lucy always loves to copy me tsk.

Our cribzzz for three nights :D

HAHA! Never fails to crack me up

dude, take the mask off and maybe you'll get some business.

awesome (and frequently worn by many other members of the entourage) but slightly overpriced beanie :D

lucy's cheeks ftw!

*says 'Ram-leeee burgers' in a british accent.

the salmon thief.

She must have eaten a whole salmon by herself!

This joke has been hilarious for six months and counting!

Avatar was brilliant. Jake scully is hubba hubba.

Ah, and the new year party!

Met up with Suat the other day and we pigged out on Kenny G's big time! Laughed like mad and she gave me my birthday present, which was a hat with sharp-edges inside LOL.

And was supposed to meet up with Tiara yesterday at starbucks to do homework but of course WE DIDN'T cause we are rebels like that. Instead, we flitted around the usual gossip and tiara's old NYNY bosses kept stopping by to chat (where is our salmon toast, if i may ask?) Haha I love tiara but I also hate her cause she'll be zooming off to paris with mandy moose for ten days whilst I sit alone in classes and rot. Lovely.

Anyway, timetable for 2010 is out. Major major suckfest. Having some heated fb discussion with Kenneth, Liz, Vanessa and Kai right now. I think I hear the word 'protest'!

I will do my homework tomorrow. Yes, I will.
